We were fortunate to be treated to a performance by the Lyneham High School Beginner Band this week. Their tunes kept us bopping along in our seats and we learned a lot about the different instrument families in a concert band too. Huge thanks to Lyneham High School for travelling down for this musical experience.

Thank you to those who were able to make it to our Kindergarten ZOOM Exhibition. It was lovely for the children to share their learning with you and for you to be able to clearly see the connections made throughout the unit of work. We started with our perceptions of what the earth looked like, then zoomed in to Australia, NSW, Eurobodalla, our local area, our homes, our family, our friends and ourselves. We also shared our "special news" where it was very interesting reading about special people. places and things of other students. We used a variety of formats for expressing our understandings along the way, and a variety of art mediums when creating our work. We hope you enjoyed the exhibition as much as we enjoyed collating it. They're up! You can now navigate your way to the class videos of their performance of Broulee on the Box through the school website. Take a look - they're fabulous!
Broulee Public School Website What a day! Despite the heat and wind, Kindergarten had a wonderful day completing the Walkathon and Colour Run. Our walk along North Broulee Beach and Shark Bay was beautiful followed by a cooling Zooper Dooper and lunch at the surf club. We then made our way back to school for some rest time before heading out for a heap of fun in the colour run. All of the students showed fantastic determination, finishing the course despite the hot, windy conditions. Thank you to all of the parents, carers and grandparents who walked with us today. What a fabulous piratey week we've had! We have done pirate descriptions, pirate writing, pirate co-ordinates, pirate counting, learned the 'ar' (pirate) sound and of course, followed a treasure map to lead to treasure! Check out some of our fierce, brave, strong, smelly, tough, scary, vicious, fearless, scruffy, greedy pirates below.... We have been working on the concept of time throughout the year in Kindergarten. The order of events, before/after, morning/night, how long it takes to do things (long time/short time), times that we do things, and what time looks like on an analog clock. This week, we revisited analog clocks and introduced what digital time looks like. We started with o'clock then moved on to half past, which is a tricky concept! The students loved the flip clocks and really started to make connections between analog and digital time. They also made used playdough to make and change the hands of a clock to specific times, and played games outside to reinforce their understandings. You may like to look at different clocks around your house together and what time looks like on them.
Throughout the year, on a Tuesday afternoon our Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 classes, take turns to visit some of the residents at Banksia Village. We believe these visits are a great opportunity to interact with members of our local community, but in particular, it engages our students with people from a completely different generation. It makes us teachers extremely proud to see the way your children engage with these senior members of our community. Our Kindergarten students have read stories, drawn pictures and completed other written and verbal tasks with these residents. They have done so with kindness, patience and a positive attitude. Please enjoy viewing some images of KE's on Tuesday of Week 7.
